Alternative Fuels

The earth has been around a long time. Somewhere near the 5 billion year old mark is what I have read lately. In this 5 billion years the earth has changed so much. It has gone from cold to hot, hot to cold and now it does both packed into four seasons.

Where am I going with this you ask? Simple. Alternative fuels have been all of the craze lately. With Hybrid cars from companies like Toyota (ie. Prius) and now everyone from GM to Ferrari is making Ethanol ready cars. Why, when Ethanol has proven to be more costly for the environment and the economy? There have been a number of states that have already put into effect a law that mandates a small percentage of gasoline in the filling stations be Ethanol. Thank God I need a minimum of 91 Octane. Hydrogen and Hybrid Diesel’s seem to be more of a real answer for the future, not a temporary solution for the present to make people feel better about themselves.

People tend to believe a lot what they read in the papers or what they hear on their favorite news station. The average person doesn’t really pay attention to obtaining numerous sources to help learn more and more about one particular subject or simply a topic. I on the other hand try to do so as much as possible. I try to enjoy reading things that I both agree and disagree with. I listen to people that I think are absolutely wrong for the simple enjoyment of hearing them speak and say new things that I may be able to learn about.

I drive a sports car. All I have ever had were either sports cars or SUV’s. Damn me to hell for this you say? Well, why? I know the latest craze is to drive a Hybrid car, since we all know that millions of Toyota Hybrid’s will save the world. Why aren’t we using more fuel types like Hydrogen? BMW has proven that with that fuel type they can save the world and develop new technology almost every day. Why are we still using fuels like Ethanol? The price of corn has risen over the past few years, and if we stay at this present course, we will be dependant on foreign corn. If this happens, the Democrats will blame one more thing on Republicans. Saying that it’s their fault we are foreign dependant on everything. This isn’t a poliical statement, more or less a joke for the fact that politicians blame the problems they caused on everyone else.

As the article that I posted earlier from IOL, a scientific publication, tells the dangers of Ethanol fuels by using corn. “Two separate studies published in the journal Science show that a range of biofuel crops now being grown to produce “green” alternatives to oil-based fossil fuels release far more carbon dioxide into the air than can be absorbed by the growing plants.” A statement from the article says.

Stay tuned Wednesday May 21st for the the final parts of the article of Alternative Fuels.
