Test Drive: 2008 Ford Bullitt Mustang

Test Drive: 2008 Bullitt

I love my job, I really do. I get to cover all of the latest and greatest automotive topics, speak my outspoken mind, and best of all, play with cars all day every day. Thank you for always reading and staying tuned.

Thanks to my brother, Jason, I got the opportunity to drive the brand new 2008 Bullitt Mustang. I have always been a fan of Steve McQueen and the movie Bullitt. The car is an icon with the man. Jason is a salesman for Tom Smith Ford in Lillington, NC. Tom Smith also happens to be a close friend of our family, as well. You may have read my review of Jason’s 2008 Mustang GT, and my rant on why BMW was the greatest in my eyes, where I list Jason as my biggest automotive influence.

2009 Ferrari California

2009 Ferrari California

Ferrari released to us weeks ago their new 2009 California. The California is a direct representation of the original 250 GT California Spyder, one of my all time favorite cars. Hopefully you can see the design similarities I tried to show in my not so excellent photoshop. There are of course numerous differences that set the two apart, and naturally bring the new 2009 California into its own modern day classic.

The new car will use a mid mounted front-engine setup with a Direct Fuel Injection. The 4.3L V8 will produce a nice 430hp Both the mid-front-engine and DFI are Ferrari firsts.

Popular Mechanics Interviews Adam Carolla

Right after I posted all of the new information about Top Gear on here, just moments ago, I took a look at Autoblog, and they reported on an interview with Adam Carolla in Popular Mechanics.

Popular Mechanics recently sat down for an interview with the new lead host of the NBC version of Top Gear. Adam talked about everything for the new show. It is a four page interview that does a great job at representing the issues that us Top Gear fans had. At one point Adam says “I can only tell you what they’ve told me thus far, and I’ll just take them at their word. Their mantra has been, ‘We’re going to do it exactly the same as they do it in England, and you’ll be able to say whatever you want about any car you like regardless of who makes it or if they sponsor the show or not.”

So, uh, yeah. I have officially become extremely excited about the U.S. version of Top Gear.

Adam also does a good job ripping into the movies where they present a cool car attitude, but that they really don’t know what the hell they are talking about. He also talks about his date with Jeremy Clarkson and discussing how Jeremy does it… Hmm… Interesting.

You can check out the whole interview at Popular Mechanics’ website. I think you guys will be as pleased as I was about the interview. Matt Sullivan, the writer, did a great job. Props to ya, buddy.

NBC Won’t Censor What Top Gear Hosts Say

In a move that I’m sure has us all jumping for joy, NBC said the other day that they would not put any sort of restraints on what the new hosts of Top Gear U.S.A. could or couldn’t say. This is according to Final Gear.

A listener called into Adam Carolla’s radio show to talk about the new show and ask questions. Adam revealed that the show would be very similar to the British Top Gear, in that they test exotic cars and the likes, you know, all of the cars that we want to see them test, not some Chevy Cobalt SS… Carolla also came right out and said that the NBC was not going to put limitations on what the hosts opinions were on a car. According to Adam, they will be able to freely dis or love up on any car they want.

Are you crying with joy yet? I am too. Finally, something I can really be excited to sit down and watch that is truly automotive based and worth while. Now all we need to know is what kind of American Stig we will get. I hope it won’t be the Stig’s fat, American cousin…

You can hear the radio show here.
